Medline Adult Portable Bed Rails recalled due to entrapment hazard

Issue

When the recalled bed rails are attached to an adult’s bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress. This poses a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation. As of May 27, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of entrapment resulting in death and 1 report of injury.

What you should do

• Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Medline Adult Portable Bed Rails and dispose of the recalled product. Contact Medline Canada to request a refund.

• Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Medline Canada.

• Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
