DescriptionGE Front Load Washing Machine (Non-Heater) Product description This recall involves certain models of GE front load washing machines without auxiliary water heating. The units are white, have a round door, and a control panel that is unique to the recalled models. Information on the recalled washing machines is as follows: The Model Number begins with GBVH5. The Serial Number begins with: AM AR AS AT DM DR DS FM FR FS GM GR GS HM HR HS LM LR LS MM MR MS RM RR RS SM SR SS TM TR TS VM VR VS ZL ZM ZR ZS The model and serial number can be found on the bottom right side of the washing machine, above the rating plate, or on the inside of the door frame. The recalled machines were manufactured between December 2006 and February 2010. Hazard identified A wire can break in the washing machine and make contact with a metal part on the washtub while the machine is operating, posing fire and shock hazards to users. In Canada, GE has received one report of flames escaping the unit and causing minor smoke damage, with no reported injuries. GE has received 6 other reports of incidents related to these washing machines. Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these washing machines. Number sold Approximately 32,960 of the recalled units were sold at department and retail stores across Canada. Time period sold The recalled products were sold from December 2006 to May 2010.
